You’d have thought it was 1950 rather than 2010. It was a beautiful weekend morning. My husband and baby son were positioned on the couch watching football, my toddler daughter was outside in the backyard pretending with dolls in her playhouse and I was in the kitchen baking a French Apple Pie. As much as we try to be all hip and modern, sometimes traditional roles sneak up on us.

To be honest, I love mornings like that.

The next time you feel your inner June Cleaver demanding to emerge, you’ll find that pulling together this incredibly easy apple pie with its irresistible crumbly streusel topping will satisfy the urge. I went with all Granny Smith apples this time around and it was perfectly tart and sweet. It tastes like autumn.

I definitely don’t mind a little tradition every once in a while.

So the question is: is the prepared pie crust really as good as a homemade crust and was the rest of the recipe good enough for entertaining? I have a recipe I have modified to my liking but am always ready to try something new. It looks delicious. ­čÖé

Well…I do think homemade crust is better. BUT ready made crust isn’t bad and it’s definitely easier. If I had company coming I’d probably aim to make my own crust but if time ran short I wouldn’t feel an ounce of guilt about using a ready made one. I loved this pie!

This was so simple to make!
I beat the topping ingredients too much, so they came out more like a crust.
It tasted delicious regardless, not too sweet, not soggy at all.

I am 13 and I made this pie! I bake ALL the time and my family loves it! This pie was super easy and tasty! Loved it!!!
