Foodie Gifts on RedEnvelope + $75 Gift Card Giveaway!

{Today’s post and giveaway have been sponsored by RedEnvelope.}

I can remember this time of year circa 1998. A coworker, who had been tooling around the Internet shopping for holiday gifts, looked up from his computer and triumphantly announced across the cubicles, “This is gonna be an e-Christmas!”. Ha ha ha, we all fell over laughing at this crazy idea of doing actually doing all of one’s holiday shopping online. That was just unheard of. Today, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

RedEnvelope, one of my favorite gift sites since those early “e-Christmas” days, recently sent me a gift card to shop their site and share my experience. They’ve also got a gift card for one lucky reader! Read on for a chance to win a $75 Red Envelope electronic gift card plus a few of the fun foodie gifts I found on the site.

Personalized Casserole Dish
I love the one-of-a-kind nature of giving personalized gifts – it just seems extra special. Anyone who loves to cook would love to own a special serving vessel like this Personalized Casserole Dish ($69.95) to proudly show off their best dish (if I had one of these you can be sure it would make an appearance at every holiday and dinner party!).

Floral Measuring Cups

These Floral Measuring Cups ($29.95) are almost to pretty to use…but I would definitely use them! In fact, they’re so decorative I would even keep them out on the countertop.

Sliced Bread Kid's T-ShirtsFor the foodie kid in your life, there are these adorable personalized Sliced Bread Kid’s T-Shirts ($29.99) that read “<Name> Best Thing Since…” with a rosy-cheeked sliced bread graphic. So cute.

Candy By the Decade

I thought this was really fun – Candy By the Decade ($29.95), a little care package of candy that was popular in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s or 1980s. Reading over the list of what’s included in the 1980s pack – Sweetarts, Bubble Tape, Smarties, Starburst among others – conjured up memories of just about every birthday party from my childhood!

Culinary Salad Growing Kit

I have gifted RedEnvelope’s windowsill garden kits in the past, they offer a great variety of plant choices. Not only does this Culinary Salad Growing Kit ($69.95)  make an attractive window display but you also get easy access to fresh salad greens.

So what did I end up choosing? Well, I actually went with a non-foodie item, the Deluxe Wall Gallery Frame. I’m so excited to fill it with the kids’ school photos (which actually turned out terrific this year) and other family memories.

Well, Thanksgiving isn’t really a gift-giving holiday, but I’d say giving birth to my first son nearly 5 years ago was pretty incredible. 🙂

    • I did the same thing 4 years ago! Definitely the best gift ever. 🙂

My most memorable gift was one I shared with a neighbor last year. She admired a sheer poncho I wore over a dress for a previous Christmas party and I found a similar one online and purchased it for her. I left the bag on her doorstep and she came over to tell me it arrived at a very difficult time…she had just lost her beloved elderly dog, and literally cried when she opened my gift. Truly a great experience.

Most memorable Christmas gift….hmm, tough. Maybe my first full sized violin or perhaps the earrings my hubs gave me the year we said we weren’t giving gifts to each other. He found out I had gotten him a little something and rushed out to buy me diamonds….yeah, I had gotten him boxer shorts and a DVD. hee hee….

The most memorable holiday gift I’ve received is a collage “movie poster” that my husband made. It features many of the movies we like to watch together and was homemade by him.

  12. I always do my shopping online these days, it’s so much easier. I think the most memorable gifts are the ones that are surprises. Every year my husband and I try to get each other little gifts that are just silly little surprises and those usually end up being the best ones.

  26. Best Christmas gift ever? Like every other rabid cook, a Kitchenaid stand mixer. Even better?? I got to open it two weeks before Christmas and use it. I went nuts in the kitchen that year. This is my second year with it and I’ll be doing the same again.
